Conference interpreter during the presentation of the America’s Cup 2024 in Barcelona

El Círculo Ecuestre is a prestigious business club in Barcelona.

Founded in 1856, the club organises many events, professional and cultural meetings throughout the year.

Last Monday I collaborated with this institution by translating one of the living legends of my sport, sailing.

El Círculo organised a lunch-colloquium to present the America’s Cup, which will be held in Barcelona over three months in 2024.

Grant Dalton, head of Emirates Team New Zealand (winner of the last edition and organiser), explained the characteristics of this sporting event and the important economic impact and prestige that the holding of the preliminary races between the challenging teams and the final races, where the winning challenger challenges the current holder of the Cup, Emirates Team New Zealand, will have on our city.

This sporting event is the third largest sporting competition in the world, after the Olympic Games and the football World Cup.

Dalton, who approached before the start of the event to make sure that his thick Australian accent was understood, conveyed confidence and security, said he was in love with Barcelona and the possibilities it offers for bringing sailing to the general public, as the regattas can be held on a stretch of sea close to the coast, from the Olympic Port to the mouth of Port Vell.
